Welcome to the audience research workshop!

In October: DOUBT – Holding the Show Together, an open rehearsal and workshop at Quo Vadis.

Who holds more power in a performance situation: the performers or the audience? This performance workshop is for everyone who has ever sat in an audience.

The LaserDragons2000 working group invites you to consider:
Why does the audience have such a big influence on how a performance turns out? Are you a good or a bad audience member? And who gets to decide?

*One audience member will be selected as our Best Audience Member and invited to join us in Budapest, Hungary from 15–18 November as the official audience member of the tour. The prize includes round-trip travel from Helsinki, accommodation (private hotel room for three nights), and a ticket to the performance at MU Theatre in Budapest on Oct 17. WIN A TRIP TO HUNGARY!

Performers need an audience in order to perform, and the audience needs performers in order to be an audience. Every evening an invisible agreement is made: Let’s hold this show together.

Doubt – Holding the Show Together is a playful exploration of this agreement. It asks what happens when a performance doesn’t happen only in front of an audience, but between everyone present.

So who, in the end, holds the show together? Come along and find out!

The workshop is part of the Laserdragons2000 working group’s Atten-dances project, supported by the Kone Foundation, and is organised in collaboration with Quo Vadis and the QV UG project’s radical hospitality initiative. During autumn 2026, the performance will be presented as a series of small-scale events at different venues: Artsi in Vantaa, the Mosaiikki urban culture centre, Vuotalo and Kokoteatteri. The working group consists of an international group of artists who have graduated from the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
