Release: Quo Vadis Poetry Band interpreting Walt Whitman

Quo Vadis Poetry Band in collaboration with Teatteri Umpihanki are taking on the American poet’s final work Leaves of Grass. Whitman’s rhythmic and hypnotic poems will be seen interpreted on stage in the original Poetry Band way. Combining poetry, music, performance, video and visual art, this piece speaks of our time in Whitman’s words.

Walt Whitman (1819–1892) was an american poet and humanist. Leaves of Grass is his main oeuvre, his tribute to the biodiversity of nature and his poignant reminder to people: the ecosystem is a community and we are a part of it.

Theatre Quo Vadis has long been combining poetry and music through Poetry Band. In addition to Finland, Poetry Band has performed in France, Spain and Chile.

Spectators are in for a double premiere: the world premiere of the performance will be accompanied by a video piece by the same name, made by Jonne Sippola and filmed during the rehearsal period in Kemiönsaari.
